When it comes to providing counseling and care, many Christians (and especially leaders) feel under equipped and unsure of where or how to start.

We believe that the local church ought to be the hub for equipping and development for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11). Therefore, on Saturday, January 25th Pastor Kyle Ogle from Center Church in Brenham, TX led a workshop on counseling and care in order to help our congregation and other leaders navigate a biblical framework on providing care.

Over the course of three sessions, Pastor Kyle helped provide a biblical framework for counseling, shepherding the heart of an individual, and then practical considerations on counseling & care.

Pastor Kyle is a certified counselor with the Association of Biblical Counselors and serves one of the pastoral care leads for the Redeemer Network.

This workshop is free and available for all Christians, lay leadership, staff teams, small group leaders, deacons, and pastors.

We can often find ourselves discouraged when it comes to the ministry of counseling. For many, they can feel helpless or unequipped when it comes to stewarding those under their care. Further, many lack resources on how to best approach counseling or simply how to "sit in the mud" with them.

We invited Michael Fowler who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Fowler Family Therapy in Ft. Worth, TX. One of his goals is to help provide church leaders with biblical encouragement through a clinical perspective. 

During this time, we're going to learn about basic counseling practices in order to best apply them in challenging circumstances such as suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and abuse (self-harm or relational).
