Baby Dedications are a wonderful occasion in the life of parents, their children, and the church. We believe it serves as an opportunity for discipleship and care toward parents and their children as they dedicate them to the Lord.

At Storehouse McAllen, we hold baby dedication services for three reasons:

  1. Dedicating your child to the Lord: Before God and the people of God, as parents, you are committing your child to God’s purposes and entrusting them to His care (1 Samuel 1:21-28).

  2. Raising up in the way of the Lord: Before God and the people of God, as parents, you are committing to raising your child according to God’s word (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Proverbs 22:6; Psalm 127:3-5; Ephesians 6:4).

  3. The church and discipleship: The responsibility of the church is to commit herself to come alongside parents in helping to disciple your child to the glory of God and to encourage, support, and sometimes exhort parents; sharpening one another (1 Corinthians 11:1; Colossians 1:28, 3:12-14; Ephesians 4:13-16).

Overall, we believe that baby dedications are a time where parents are publicly committing to displaying Christ to their children in their everyday lives, hoping and praying that one day they will surrender their lives to Jesus just as their parents have.

Baby Dedications is a church family endeavor in discipleship and care. Baby dedications protect and preach two vital truths. First, baby dedications are a public commitment from parents before God and the people of God and this occasion does not provide salvation for the child or children. Jesus is the one who saves and transforms our hearts. Second, this occasion is not a foretelling of your children’s salvation, but an opportunity for the church to come alongside in prayer and discipleship of parents and their children.
